Danting Chen is a Bai-indigenous writer-director and editor-colorist educated in China, Germany and the USA. Latest she gained an MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute (AFI). 

Her narrative shorts, exploring themes of women, immigration, LGBTQIA+ and social dilemmas, have been featured in 2014 Shanghai Biennale and Disney Research China. Among them FAMILY TRIP (Italy) and THE NECESSITY OF IT (Germany, Greece) screened at Oscar® and CSA® qualifying festivals worldwide.

Her commercial work features strong visualization skills and emotional storytelling. From fashion to music videos to products, her clients include Emporio Armani, Zeiss, Mercedes-Benz, and Huawei.

Shortlisted for Asian Film Awards Academy International Film Camp 2025 and Director Elevation Program initiated by Cherokee Films and Amazon MGM Studios, she is ready to realize the next film with utmost care.
